About Rabbi Elimelech (Eli) Levy

I was born and raised in London, in a large Chabad family where making the world a better place through acts of goodness and kindness was simply part of daily life. As a teenager I spent school holidays working with underprivileged children in Eastern Europe, an experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to education and a love of travel that has since taken me to 28 countries.

At 18 I studied at the Rabbinical College of Greater Miami, then came to Sydney as part of a shlichut program, studying while working with local youth. I completed a Master’s degree in Miami, received Rabbinical ordination in Sydney, and have built my life and work here ever since.

Today I serve as Director of Chabad Youth NSW, where we develop programs that strengthen Jewish identity, confidence and community connection for young people and families. Over two decades, that work has grown to include partnerships with schools, councils and government.

I’ve also served for many years as a volunteer chaplain with the NSW State Emergency Service, receiving a long service award in 2021, with training in crisis intervention and critical incident support.

In 2021 I completed an MBA at Macquarie University, having worked in corporate sales, management and product development at an ASX-listed health company. I’m a certified coach and a member of the International Coaching Federation, and I founded Knei Lecha Chover, a global peer coaching network for rabbis. I’m also involved in property development projects connected to building sustainable communities.
